Men vs. Women Roles
Ancient Egypt is very different than modern America. Men and women had different jobs and each gender couldn't do some of the same things as the other. Now days we are much more integrated and are willing to do the same things as others. One thing men and women had in common in Ancient Egypt was that they had the same economic and legal rights.
Men
Men would usually work as farmers, traders, or scribes. They were often higher up in the social pyramid, since scribes, priests, and pharaohs were usually men. Men could also marry as many women as they wanted to, and could marry their relatives.
Women
The typical job for a woman in Ancient Egypt was a musician, business woman, or a trader. Unless the Pharaoh was a woman, they were often lower in the social pyramid. Most women would marry around the age of 14, but some archaeologists have found mummies of wives who were only 8-years old.
